This is a Fine Art photo of the TOMMEY'S SHOE sign, possibly in the New York City area. Shoes and boots were all made by hand from the finest leather and suede, what a luxury in today's standards, but which was very common place at the turn of the century. Alfred Toomey came from Germany and carried with him a craft that could be used anywhere despite a language barrier. From what is sketchy information, Alfred did marry and have five sons, sadly not one had an interest in the shoe making business. So when Alfred died in 1956 that was the end of TOMMEY'S SHOES.
