This is Fine Art photograph of the neon sign of 'The Wash Lady' in Tucumcari,New Mexico. In September of 1952 the Lu brothers opened this family owned and operated dry cleaners and laundry. In those days the washing and ironing of clothes were all done by hand. Stanley Lu would work all night, as he had promised in his ads 'laundry ready the next day'. Lawrence Lu was in care of all the mechanics of the business, fixing broken washing machines and dryers, repairing the building, keeping up that great neon sign. In 1999 the business was sold and became 'Boulevard Cleaners and Laundromat on Route 66'. The new owners have still maintained the care of the building and that iconic sign above their door of 'The Wash Lady'. It is to these people that all of the US should gave thanks for preserving our unique American past. Those amazing neon signs that call you from a distance to come see what this business is offering.
