This is a Fine Art photo of 'OBRIEN'S MOTOR COURT' sign. You may think it sound's Irish....but no...This old beauty is located right in the heart of New Jersey! Built during the beginning days of long distant family travel, the motor court names needed to be chosen carefully. They had to have a friendly sounding names, perhaps, like the name of a favorite grandmother. The Jersey area has always been known for its Italian population, so 'Vito's Guest Lodge' would not quite make the top 10 in family over night stays. Many motor lodge names were chosen by what the nearest attraction might be, like Sea View, Sandy Cove, Ocean Breakers, Big Lake and ect. Most of these small, but delightful places are now closed or have been torn down for multi plex impersonal cheap stay places. There is nothing more offensive than the famed 'Motel 6'. What does that mean today? Over night for $6 without a bathroom? Or that you can fit 6 people in a room, three to a queen size bed? Or perhaps, it means you could sleep in your car and park it over night for $6. Who knows?
