This is a Fine Art Photograph of the Post Office sign in Virginia Dale, Colorado. Virginia Dale is a ghost town now, but is still located on U.S. Highway 287, approximately 45 mi from Ft. Collins and approximately 4 mi south of the Wyoming border. In the late 19th century, it was the site of a famous stop on the Overland Trail. The town was described by Mark Twain in his novel "Roughing It". Nearby is the famous outlaw hideout called the Robbers Roost, which was made famous by the 1969 American Western film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". The film starred Paul Newman as Butch and Robert Redford as his partner Harry Longabaugh, the "Sundance Kid". The outlaw gang was actually called "The Wild Bunch" but this was changed in the film to "The Hole-In-The-Wall Gang". What more can be said, this would make the perfect gift for the many out there who are "Butch Cassidy" film fans. No doubt, that movie will remain in the hearts and minds of a particular generation around the world. Who can forget the wild bike ride of Butch with the song "Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head." Yes, you do know someone today, right now, who would love this photo gift of "Virginia Dale Post Office."
