This is a Fine Art photo of the 'RE Ringer General Merchandise Store' which is abandoned along Highway 82 near Artesia, New Mexico. A great old relic from the turn of the century are the general merchandise stores for local farmers. When contracted to do so, the owner could paint on the outside of his building 'COCA COLA', advertising that you were the only one around who sold this famous soft drink. The cost varied on what the owner had to pay, but it was a definite draw to bring in weary travelers who needed a cold refreshment of sugar, soda water, special spices and cocaine.
