Levi Strauss Overalls

This is a Fine Art photo of a Levi Strauss & Co ghost sign. Levi Strauss began making denim blue jeans in 1873, when they patented the idea for using copper rivets to reinforce points of strain on their pants. The company made a denim tuxedo for Bing Crosby, which is a museum in Nevada. In the tales from the archive of Levi Strauss come the following information: "At the time of the gunfight {at the OK Corral}, there was at least one store in Tombstone selling Levi Strauss & Co. riveted blue denim jeans or a selection of the company’s fine dry goods. It was a general mercantile called Schaffer & Lord, just yards from the O.K. Corral. In an 1880 advertisement they described themselves as “The Original Miners and Prospectors Store". An interesting article about denim and Levi Strauss appears in the July 2011 issue of True West Magazine.
