This is a Fine Art photo of the 'JOY' sign in Plover, Wisconsin. This once a small elegant hotel, was opened by the Fabian Dumount family in the 1930s. They had left the Burgundy area of France to open a winery in Wisconsin, but their timing was a bit off, by the time their first grape harvest was ready, Prohibition was firmly in place. Luckily, they had established the JOY HOTEL has a lovely place to dine on French cuisine and enjoy a nights rest, so they continued that custom waiting for the end of Prohibition. In the years to follow they had perfected a delightful Shiraz, Merlot blend of wine which they aptly named JOY WINE. Do to economic circumstances and aging parents it was decided that the Dumount family would return to their beloved France. The time spent in the United States was interesting, but Fabian Dumount felt that being an ordinary Frenchmen was far more exciting than being an average American, especially where food and wine are the main part every day life.
