This is a Fine art 'Ghost Sign' photo. Highlander Beer had an unusual beginning. In 1910 George Gerber, owner of the Garden City Brewing Company decided to create a new beer which he had wanted to call 'Highlander'. As he researched the availability of the name, he realized that there was New York baseball team called The Highlander's, so that put an end to his naming his new beer "Highlander". But as luck would have it, the baseball team had voted on a new name, they decided to call themselves The New York Yankees, so Mr. Gerber was given the rights to the name "Highlander".
