This is a Fine Art photo of "BOSS OF THE ROAD' jean company. This is a great example of what is called a 'ghost sign', an extremely faded image that captivates the imagination. 'BOSS OF THE ROAD' was a very famous Denim company who supplied overalls to all the miners who came out west to join the fever of the Gold Rush. Very often the signs indicated that they were Union Made. Their slogan was 'The Watchdog of Quality'. They were eventually bought out by their competition, Levi Strauss and Company and then closed down. The most efficient way to exterminate the competition. Alas, all that is left are a few hand painted ghost wall signs in the Northern California, mainly in and around the Sacramento area.
