This is a Fine art photo of the iconic neon sign of "The Starlight Motel which is located in Mesa Arizona. This neon sign is one the greatest examples of animated neon and is considered a technical masterpiece. It was designed by Paul Millet in the 1940's. Unfortunately this neon sign was recently destroyed by a storm (2010). All 78 feet came crashing to the ground and it appeared to be a total loss. There was such a profound out cry from local Mesa residence that the familiar diving ladies must be reborn. The Starlite sign was a national landmark for fivty years and regarded as a visual treasure. With the work of many neon enthusiast $65,000 dollars were raised for the Starlite's restoration. Larry Graham of "Graham's Neon" came to the rescue and donated $6,000 worth of free labor in the restoration project. There were a few more hurdles to cross, with today's neon codes, that no sign could measure taller than 12 feet and 80 sq. ft. in circumference, a special waiver was created to allow the Starlite ladies back up and diving. The original sign measured 78 feet long with 61/2 foot tall letters, which broke every modern day sign code. With the perseverance of the Mesa Preservation Foundation the Starlite ladies will be lighting up Mesa's skies in a short time. This is a 'must have photo' for your collection of neon artistry. If you can not own the original, then a life size photo will be quite the statement for your home.
