This is a Fine Art photograph of the 'Henning Motel' sign, noting that each room comes with 'Free TV'. The old Henning Motel no longer exist as does the entire town of Bagdad, California. Now classified as a Ghost Town it was at one time a thriving community along the historic Route 66, east of Barstow and Ludlow and west of Amboy and Needles. Bagdad was founded in 1883 when the railway the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe opened a line between Barstow and Needles. It was a busy little town with tourist making their way along Route 66 and the railway stopping for mail. Then, as it has happened to many of these little US towns, some one got the bright idea to putting in an interstate, so in 1973 Interstate 40 opened and isolated the town of Bagdad. Travelers barreled on through to unknown destination, never having a reason any longer to take in the sights, have lunch at the Bagdad Cafe or stay the night at the Henning Motel.
