In the 1940s a majority of American people had invested in the ‘family car’ and were curious to be on their way to new adventures. Often their goal was to see distant family and, of course, they would need to stay somewhere for the night. What a challenge it was to decide where to stay when they entered a town of wild and amazing Hotel and Motel signs, each offering something different, swimming pools, phones in every room and as the 1950s came, FREE TV and Refrigeration. Some were only hand painted, but others were neon classics with moving parts to catch your attention.
