The 'Hollywood Cafe' has always been known as a friendly place to eat, however, over the years there has been mixed reviews on the food quality and taste. People who have grown up in Lodi, CA. have very found memories of going to the Hollywood when they served up the very best hamburgers and shakes around. Even when some moved away they would travel back to Lodi to have breakfast or lunch at the Hollywood. At present, the building and even sign still exist, but the business is now called Mel's Diner, however it is still referred to as the Hollywood by old timers. There is a slick 1950s feel to it now with kitsch memorabilia upon the walls and even juke box that plays the half century old hits. All of this does not disguise the fact that the food has a bad reputation and equally negative is the service. Sadly, people return hoping for a change to their beloved Hollywood Cafe, perhaps, by some miracle it will resurrect itself quietly over night and return to what it use to be, the very delicious and dependable Hollywood Cafe.
