Stutz Emblem, Indianapolis, Indiana

This is a Fine Art photograph of the Stutz car emblem. The 'STUTZ' emblem has always signified cars for the rich and famous. They also held many race titles as one of the fastest cars in the world during the 1920s. The Stutz was owned and manufactured by the 'Ideal Motor Company' which opened in 1911, making Indianapolis, Indiana its head quarters. Their first year (1911) in business, the 'Ideal Company' entered one of their originally designed race cars in the Indianapolis 500, placing 11th. The following year the company was renamed after its founder, Harry C. Stutz and the company stepped forward to produce high performance roadsters, such as the well known 'STUTZ BEARCAT'. The Bearcat had under its hood one of the first multi-valve engines, a forceful 4-cylinder T-head engine with four valves per cylinder, which for its size delivered serious tork. The Stutz Company has been credited for creating 'the under-slung chassis' a brilliant invention that safely enhanced the cornering capabilities of their cars at high speeds. This design principle of 'the under slung' chassis is still in use. Sadly, due to financial problems and in fighting with investors the Stutz Motor Car of America closed its doors in 1935 after a successful run of manufacturing 35,000 cars. Thankfully, many Stutz models have endured the test of time and are highly collectible gems for any car affectionato.
