This is a Fine Art photograph of a Plymouth hood ornament. These vintage cars all had wonderful ornaments that graced the hood of the car. This 1930s Plymouth hood decoration is that of the the Greek heroine, Gladious Hormornes. She represents strength and agility. The Art deco design is keeping with the vintage of the car. Usually, the standard Plymouth hood emblem was a ship in full landing at Plymouth Rock. In the late 1950s hood ornament were being replaced by smoother front hood designs. Wind sheer and maximized thrust were the rage. People desired cars to reach their full potential in speed and gas mileage. The Plymouth Corporation unfortunately was not keeping up with the car designs of the times and the desires of the American public. The last vehicle to roll off the line was a concept car, the 1999 PT Cruiser, which Chrysler still continues to make today.
