Mack Truck Grille

This is a Fine Art photo of a Mack Truck Grille. The Mack brother's history was all over the map, having escaped Germany, this Huguenot family of teamsters immigrated to Lackawanna County in northeastern Pennsylvania. By their early twenties, the Mack brothers, John and Augustus, had held many various lines of work, educating themselves with each new job. By 1895 the Mack brothers had added a third brother to the equation, William C. and they joined forces to build freight wagons in the the newest borough of New York City, known now as Brooklyn. It became clear to the Mack brothers that the future was in combustible engines and not horse drawn wagons. They were introduced to the automobile, when a Brooklyn neighbor took them for a ride in a 1901 Winton. Their first adventure in building a transportation vehicle was quite the project. They put in a bid to build a self propelled tour bus and were completely successful in their design. It actually was a very large touring car with five rows of tufted seats, powered by a vertical inline-four and traveled at 24mph. This tour bus was eventually, named 'The Manhattan' and they had orders from as far away as New Orleans and even Havana, Cuba. Soon they out grew their place in Brooklyn and moved the entire Mack operation to Allentown, Pennsylvania where, in 1905, they began to build their first Mack trucks. Truck drivers around the world would appreciate this photo. If you know any manly truck driving machines, this photo is the perfect gift. Buy one before the stock runs out.
