This is a Fine art photograph of a vintage Ford Split Window V8. The split window was standard on all cars from 1932 to 1954. The first wind shields were used to protect from bugs and mud, most cars were designed without tops, more like a carriage, some had cloth tops and some leather. As the concept of the all enclosed car came into vogue so did the split window. The knowledge of how to temper class bigger than a certain dimension had not been discovered. All windows were poured from a glass mold and could fracture very easily, non fractured glass was first introduced for wind shields in 1955. The split window could be replaced with a smooth piece of glass wind shield which made seeing objects and streets much easier. The Ford V8 split window was one of the most popular new all enclosed cars were introduced in 1947. It was their first very sporty model that made traveling at high speeds much more enjoyable.
