Edsel

This is a Fine Art photograph of a vintage 'Edsel grille'. The Edsel was going to be the financial savior of Ford car manufacturing company, but something went terribly wrong. Perhaps, Henry Ford should have never named the car after his son, Edsel. Maybe if he had had a son named 'Warrington' or 'Freemont', the car may have taken on a different image. There are rumors that there had been several mis-communications between the designer and the final mechanical engineer. Some thought it to be some type of hearing problems, where one man had misheard that 'normal cars usually have one grille, why not the Edsel have three?' Evidently, the hearing problems continued to include other mis-communications on the decorative metal that covered the front bumper and so the front of the Edsel ended up to look like a modified cow catcher. These series of strange mis-understood communications continued with subject of the hood being made higher than most. Thus seeing out of the front window was nearly impossible. One could only have vague idea of which side of the street you were driving on. Then there was the confusion of the size of the car, someone heard that it should be more like a tank. It would give the car the look of being more masculine, any thing to balance off the name of EDSEL. The company had discussed the idea of installing a Periscope. Since the wind shield visibility was limited, but the company felt that most women would be confused by this long curved object which dangled from the ceiling of their car. The mystery of how the Edsel came to be is still being debated, but some feel to this day that the Russians had a something to with it.
