The automobile has done more to shape the American landscape than anything else. Once the ‘Mother Road’ was established on November 11, 1926 and everyone was traveling down Route 66. Many were driving Fords and Chevrolets, while those that could afford it were behind the wheel of the first Mercedes or Cadillac. One thing was for certain, people were very much enjoying their new freedom and the sights and wonders that were around every turn. Sometimes the challenge was finding petrol or service stations. Thankfully, there were many ‘chain Dealerships’ that had opened and these fine mechanics often saved the day for a family car which was disabled along a country road.
