Earthship Home, Near Taos, NM

This a fascinating fine art Giglee photo of an Earthship House is located near to Taos, New Mexico. There is an increasing trend to 'live off the grid' and these Biotecture engineered homes answer that age old question of being utility free. This particular Earthship house was deigned and marketed by the green builders known as Earthship Biotecture of Taos, New Mexico. These homes are beautifully designed autonomous structures built to blend into the natural scape of the land, using a very low carbon footprint. Generally the materials used in construction are earth filled tires which use a thermal mass concept to naturally regulate indoor temperature. Naturally the use of solar and wind power are included in the mix, but so are walls made of in a honeycomb shape using recycled tin cans which are joined by concrete. Often the roofs are finished off with an adobe composite which offer heavy insulation for added energy efficiency. A brilliant idea and use of what most of the world takes to the dump.
